Support for BW 3.x objects by SAP

Hello Folks,

Although our BW enviromment is 7.1, most of our bw objects are still on 3.x and planning to come up with a migration strategy. Could any of you please tell me till when SAP is going to support the 3.x objects? Somebody are saying March 2013 and somebody are saying SAP is going to extend the support till 2014.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,

KS

    Hi Sankar,

BW 3.5 is out of standard support and in extended maintenance. SAP will continue to support 3.5 until 31 March 2013. No idea about extension of date. Please refer below link for details.

    Hope it helps you.

    Hi KS,

As Nikhil said extended maintenance period for SAP NetWeaver 2004 which is BW 3.5 will exirire on 31.03.2013.

But as you already running on 7.x environment this is not relevant for you.

What you need to take care is for how long SAP is going to support 3.x objects in 7.x versions.

So far at least to SP05 of 7.3 BW all 3.x objects are supportable. This means you can run them and you can still create/change them. However in future versions (e.g. 7.4 or higher SP levels of 7.3) it may happen that you will only be able to run them and NOT to create/change them anymore.

    BR, Martin
