Requirement Class in Sales Order Costing

Hi,,

Kindly let me know to make Sales Order Costing which requirement class should be used and what will be its inside parameters setting under Product Costing - Product Cost By Sales Order. In our new business scenario we have variant configuration. At present sales order costing is testing phase which is being done manually from Quotation. Is it necessary for automatic sales order costing with marking or it should run manually ..

Its a business call whether to use sales order cost as a cost object or not, so try to find out from them whether the sales order should be manually costed or automatically costed or automatically costed and marked

does the sales order item changes sometimes, if not use automatically costed and mark it, if not use manually costing

If it is variant configuration use requirement class 46

Hi,

Our new business we have variant configuration. We use requirement class 046. I have doubt for configurable material's sales order costing through requirment class 046. In standard requirement class 046 RA key is missing. Shall I need to incorporate RA key for sales order costing in this 046 requirement class which is missing in standard. We are using requirment type KEK which is assigned with requirement class 046. We have done Quotation and sales costing has done in Quotation phase and value has flown quoation pricing. But the doubt which I have in this quotation requirement class is maintained as 046 through requirement type KEK. In this 046 setting Costing ID mentioned as B which is automatic costing and marked. But I have done manually cost estimation and marking in costing variant PPC4 inspite of having mentioned in requirement class 046 as Automatic Costing and Marking. But ultimately it did not happen.

What is the reason ?

yes u have to update your RA key, i dont know about quotation, but when you create a sales order and save it sales order cost estimate will be automatically calculated and marked based on your requirement class. this sales order cost estimate will not be updated in material master. It will be updated in SAP tables wrt to the sales order which is costed

I have some query regarding this. RA key I will update. But is it require to make check in the box of Costing(X - Costing Required) and Sales Order Costing(under Assembly/Requirements) in requirement class 046 which are blank in standard SAP. Is it requries to check those two boxes. You have mentioned if sales order value changes frequently then use manual costing and marking, otherwise use automatic costing and marking. When sales order cost estimation is done successfully then cost figure flows to condition type EK02 in sales order pricing. If the sales order price is changed what will effect in EK02 condition type which carrying cost figure ? Or even sale order price is changed where it will effect this changes in Sales Order level ? During costing it takes amount from material price, bom quantity, routing processing time and rate maintained in KP26(cost center and activity rate). Calculate cost and value flows to EK02 in condition which incorporates with Sales pricing. So there is no direct link with price change and costing calculated price..

2nd Query....

I have done this Sales Orde costing. Based on Sales order, production order has made, confirmation has also done. After that I have done 4 cyle run on production order for WIP calculation and settlement. If we want to flow production order actual i.e, 261 which is done in production order level that will move to Sales Order level and wip process will be on sales order level. How this process will be done ?

is your sales order a cost object, if it is cost object what ever u do it in production order will reflect in sales order. to see whether sales order is cost object, check account assignment category in your requirement class, and check that account assignment category whether consumption posting field is not blank, if its blank cost will not flow if you select sales order consumption cost will flow to your sales order

for the first question, if you select check box costing with X, you have to calculate the cost you can update the standard one with your required configurations no doubt in that.

if there is any change in the sales order system will recalculate the cost, if u select automatic costing and mark it. but while doing it for the second time you have to manually mark it the system will not mark it automatically

Dear Krishna,

Please note that our requirement class is 046(MMTO config. value.). Here account assignment category is M. In this account assignment category field only 6 account assignment categories are being shown which are (B,D, E, G, M and Q). Account Assignment category C which is for Sales Order is not being appeard in this account assignment category field. Under account assignement category M which is maintained in requirement class 046, Consumption posting field is blank. There are 5 consumption posting indicators are available in this field which are A(Asset), V(Consumption), E(Accounting via Sales Order), U(Unknown) and P(Accounting via Projects). What I should take in this scenario either V or E. And what are the two different indicators actual significance V and E ? In our new business scenario one sales order will link with 30 production order for 30 work center. Individual work center consist with individual production order and those 30 production order will be linked with single Sales Order.

If I want to take C as account assignment category under requirment class 046, how I can make appear in drop down box which is not being appeard in the list inspite of having 17 account assingment categoris are available under product cost by sales order.

hi

since SAP has given the standard requirement class, it does not mean that u should not customize as u require it, u can use the same Acct assignment category, and change consumption posting form blank to E( accounting via sales order), its not an issue, whether a sales order is linked with how many production orders, if a production order is created with reference to sales order.

i dont about C appearing in Acct assignment category, but u can use M also but make changes as required

As per your sap help regarding Sales Order Costing which is mentioned requirement class 40 and costing is required which is assigned with requirement type KE. This sales order costing help file I have studied before which I have not able to clear myself after reading this document. In our business scenario variant config is used. for variant configuration requirment class will be different. Suppose if I want to change account assignment category as C which is for Sales Order to make SO as CO object. How can I put C(Sales Order) as account assignment category under this requirement class because C does not appear in drop down list box. Even I cannot find new creation of Requirement Class from Product costing - Product Cost By Sales Order. The drop down list box shows very limited account assignment categories under Account Assignment Category master.

Even if I choose other requirement class for configuratble material, I am not able to change from given existing account assignment category to C for Sales Order. How I can change ?
