Why SAP Allows O/B delivery entry with out having GR for non-stock SO Item

Hi Experts,

What is the reason behind allowing to create the outbound delivery for the non-stock items without having the GR created in system for the items.

I did create the sales order with an individual purchase item and without creating the PO and GR for that I went to create the delivery and did picking but not PGI as the sales order stock is not available.

Please tell me why SAP allowing this delivery creation for the non-stock item which has no GR created.

Please explain the business use of this and HOW TO STOP this delivery creation for non-stock item which has no GR is done.

Hello,

The Delivery relevance for an item in SO is depend on the Item Category configuration. In the Item Category customization SPRO - Sales and Distribution - Sales - Sales Documents - Sales Document item - Define Item Categories, in the 'Business Data' section check whether the item category being used in the Sales Order is having 'Item Relv for Delv' check box. You can stop delivery creation by Un-checking this indicator.

In general, these items itself are not delivered, but by copying in the O/B Delivery, they will be helpful for information purpose and also for printing in the delivery note, if required.
