Hello Folks,
I have a question related to BPF instances, and I would like to clarify my understanding
When creating a BPF in SAP BPC NW 7.5, one of the first steps is to select dimensions that later on we will use to select the members that will generate a data region for a BPF instance. Time is selected by default and as I´ve seen it´s also recommended to select the Category dimension.
If we continue with the BPF configuration, when assigning actions to the BPF tasks, for example for an Input Schedule or a Report, we are able to select the members that we want to see in the current view. This is done by selecting Inherit from BPF Instance, or Inherit from CV, or Member Lookup to select a specific member.
I have selected "Inherit from BPF Instance" for Time and Category dimension, and I do not have any security configured for these two dimensions; then I created an instance for Category: ACTUAL and Time: 2011.JAN, and in fact when I open the report or input schedule from the BPF in the Web Interface, Category and Time brings the members ACTUAL and 2011.JAN in the current view, but if I change the current view to other members in Category and Time Im able to see other data as well.
It´s not suppose that I shoudnt be seeing data from other Category and Time members ?, I thought that defining and instace would block me from seeing data for example for Category: Budget and Time: 2012.APR
Is there any suggestion?, should I define Category and Time dimensions as secure?
For example, in planning models how can we open a budget period for only 2011.JAN without having to define TIME dimension as secure. I does not make much sense to me because defining TIME as secure dimension will be a headache for security maintenance.
I will appreciate your help and suggestions.
Best regards,
Aldrin Liendo
