Admin could send documents to any inboxes just fine. When a normal user sends a documents to an inbox, it never shows up in the inbox. I try send the document to myself as a normal user. It does not show up.
I grant the normal user full control over top-level inboxes; top level users, BI launchpad. Not helping... any idea?
Hi All
I had the same issue, and get a Java Null pointer error whenever anyone (not an admin) clicked on Send To BI Inbox.
Rasied a Sap case and got this genius/lunacy fix...
Everyone group has No Access rights on SAP Streamwork Application hence the error: "error has occurred java.lang.nullpointerexception" when performing a 'Send To' in BIlaunchpad for non-administrator users.
It's also likely that a non-administrator user will encounter this same error when he clicks on "Destinations" while scheduling a Web Intelligence or Crystal Reports document in BIlaunchpad.
Resolution:
Steamworks affecting Send To?!??!?!
It worked anyway

I have the same issue in BOE4.0-SP05; followed specs herein but still only admin type users can send to anyone's inbox; non-admin users can see the sent docs in their inboxes but cannot themselves, send. they cannot even send to their own inboxes.

Hi,
Please see BI4.0 SP06 on ADAPT01670886
Description
This problem is resolved.
New Behavior
When a user schedules a Web Intelligence document to another user's inbox from SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) launch pad, the document does not appear in the second user's inbox. Ownership of the Web Intelligence document does not change during scheduling.

Hi Ajay,
I have set all the permissions per your suggestion. The user can Send a document to another user's Inbox, but the user on the receiving end, doesn't not get anything in his Inbox.
I tried sending a documemt to the Administrator's Inbox and even for the Administrator it did not work.
Any ideas why ths might be happenng?
Thanks so much for your help - Maria
Hello Maria,
Can we have the screen capture for Inbox Root folder security setup for various user groups? I suspect you have denied View Objects rights somewhere?
Have you tried with Security query option for Administrator user for the Inbox Root folder so as to narrowdown the issue?
Regards
Mani
Hello everyone,
I found the resolution - in SP06, you also need to set special permissions to Everyone group on the Personal Folders.
By default, the group Everyone has the Advanced access level. I modified that to Full Control, and it all works.
Personal Folders -> Top Level Security
Everyone group - Full Control

Hi Maria,
Had the same issue - User can Send a document to another user's Inbox, but the user on the receiving end, doesn't not get anything in his Inbox.
Resolved by granting below 2 rights ('Everyone' group already had FullContril (owner) acess on Inboxes and Personal folders).
1) On Inboxes - Top level Security for Everyone group. This right is given to add objects to other's inbox
2) On Personal Folders - Top Level Security for everyone group. This right was required since the user was trying to copy report from their personal folder to User Inbox
Hello All
We are talking about different scenarios here although they are related to each other. ( Product : 4.0 )
1) Unable to see Inboxes or Schedule To Inboxes :
Which Rights are needed
View Objects ( Uncheck "Apply to Sub Objects" Option ) + Add Objects to Folder + Full Control (Owner)
View Objects
To whom
Everyone ( Could be any specific Group )
On what level
View Objects + Add Objects to Folder + Full Control (Owner) : Inbox : Top Level
View Objects : Top Level of Users
2) Unable to see Send to Option
Which Rights are needed
Schedule to Destination ( No , It wont give end users right of "Scheduling" )
Send to Business Objects Inbox
To whom
Everyone ( Could be any specific Group )
On what level
Schedule to Destination at Folder Level ( Source - Folder from which you want to send document )
Send to Business Objects Inbox ( CMC > Application > Bi Launchpad )
Hope this Helps

Hello,
I'm also having the same issue on BI Launchpad. By granting the Add objects to folder and View Objects from top level security on all Inboxes for Everyone group, I now see my Inbox but whenever I try to click on something to send it, the send button is greyed out.
Did you ever figure how what additional rights are needed and where they should be applied.
I cannot believe there is no type of security trace tool in CMC.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Alvin,
To send a document to a useru2019s Inbox, the following rights must be granted:
u2022 Send document right for Info View application, if the document is sent from Info View
u2022 Add objects to Folder and View objects rights for the destination Inbox folder
Add a User or a Group into another Group
To add a user or a group into a destination group, the following rights must be granted:
u2022 View objects, Edit objects rights for the destination group
u2022 View objects, Edit objects rights for the source user or group
Apart from this schedule to destinations right should also be granted to the particular group to which the user belongs, and download files associated with the object.
Default users (non-administrative users) should have rights to add objects to other useru2019s inbox.
1. Login to CMC.
2. In CMC, Home - Inboxes - Rights - Everyone - Advanced - "Explicitly Grant" the right 'Add Objects to the folder' and 'View Objects' rights.
3. In CMC, Home - Groups - Rights - Everyone - Advanced - "Explicitly Grant" the right 'Add Objects to the folder' and 'View Objects' rights.
4. In CMC, Home - Categories - Rights - Everyone - Advanced - "Explicitly Grant" the right 'Add Objects to the folder' and 'View Objects' rights.
5. Check if the Option "Refresh on opening" (maybe it is called something similar) is selected on the Report, if yes unselect it and try it again
6. Check the permissions on the WebI Job Server....usually you dont have to change anything here unless you modified the permissions.
