Dear All,
I have installed IDES server ecc6.0 EHP 5.0 with oracle 10.2.0.4.0 in window server 2003.
After installation i have done sgen generation and updated the Oracle optimizer statistics.
But still ides is very slow, could you please suggest regarding it(in detail)
Some one also suggest to tune DB and application parameter after installation...
Kindly help me, i am very novice in this field...
Thank you.
Hello Dilip,
What is your RAM size and how many CPUs you have?
Thanks,

Hello Dilip,
If you have recommended memory parameters already set in your system, we are good.
Do i need to set it in instance profile(mentioned profile is not showing through RZ10).
What do you mean by "mentioned profile is not showing through RZ10?
Please take a look at below link for Database parameters.

Dear Siva,
Sorry for mentioning it wrong.
"What do you mean by "mentioned profile is not showing through RZ10?"
I meant to say parameter is not shown in rz10 extended maintnance view for default or instance ...is it ok ? or do i need to set it through rz10 or at os level. Though i am able to view the parameter exactly with rz11.
I have updated below database parameter in init<SID>.ora , do i need to set it in SPFILE<SID>.ora also ?
shared_pool_size
db_block_buffers
log_buffer
row_cache_cursors
Regards,
Dilip

- If recommended value is shown in RZ11 then you don't need to set that in RZ10.
I have updated below database parameter in init<SID>.ora , do i need to set it in SPFILE<SID>.ora also ?
- If above given recommendations link does not say anything about SPFILE then just leave it without changing anything.
Please restart both DB and SAP and let us know the performance of the server.
Thanks,
Siva Kumar
Dear Siva,
Thank you for your help, performance is improved, i have rewarded you points also...
One more small query, first time exectuing the transaction code taking time, again executing is very less, is this for new installed system. will it take some days for each activity to be executed in system one time and then system will become smooth for that activity ?
Regards,
Dilip
Hello Dilip,
Initial transaction execution will take some time as it has to place the objects in the respective buffer for better performance when it is called later. It is quite normal.
If you are concerned about compiling then I would suggest you to check SGEN and choose appropriate option to run ABAP load generators.
Please take a look at below link for SGEN help.
