Sharepoint - 401 unauthorized authentication error

Hi,

We had successfully configured Duet on our system. Tested the same with a working web service.

As per the new requirement we configured duet workflow on our system.

Now when the SP developer, tries to create a new content type from sharepoint designer, we get an authentication 401 error.

No logs are received in SAP or SP for the same.

The existing services are working fine, but we cannot create a new one or edit an old one in sharepoint designer.

Any help would be helpful.

Hi,

Is there a valid user mapping for the (SharePoint) account of that user on your SCL system?

Transaction SM30 --> Table VUSREXTID.

And if so, does the mapped SAP user has the SAP authorizations to the SAP data in backend that you try to access?

Best regards, William.

hi,

the sharepoint user has all the authorizations and has been assigned appropriate roles required for retrieving data.l

As i have mentioned, we are trying to replicate an already working web service. we cannot edit the existing one or replicate it in sharepoint.

Hi,

Since you say that try to create ECT in SPD instead of relying on BDC publisher; I assume you are not yet using Duet Enterprise FP1, but instead the initial version Duet Enterprise 1.0. Correct?

So this is the first time in your environment that you try to connect from SPD into SAP; the standard BDC Models are pre-delivered.

Checks:

  • Does the SharePoint developer has BDC Metadata Catalog Permission ?

  • Does the SharePoint developer has read permission to the WSDL Secure Store Application ?

  • Are the certificates of SAP environment installed on desktop that developer is running SPD; for current user + local computer

  • If you run Fiddler; to you see the request even being send to the SCL side; or is already stopped on SharePoint side?

Best regards, William.

Hi,

one other thought: I guess when using SharePoint designer you are no longer prompted to enter username and password anymore and simply get the 401. Is it possible that the user is locked or that you entered a wrong username / password before?

In this case, can you open the "User Accounts" settings from the Control Panel on the server where you are using SharePoint designer. Click on "Manage your credentials" and remove the WSDL credentials from the "Generic Credentials".

Then try again from SharePoint designer. Hopefully you will be prompted for a username and password again.

Regards,

Holger.
