Hi,
Wish You A Very Happy New Year 2012..
Can someone please answer below query raised by one of our client - related to SAPGUI patch rollout using automated tool:
ISSUE IS: While client is trying to re-package SAPGUI 720 patch 8 using automated rollout tool (Wise Module Factory) they are experiencing an error message - File version levels released by previous SAPGUI patchs and patch 8 are same, even though file sizes are different and automated tool only able to re-package when file versions are different.
I've raised an OSS message - but SAP support consultant advised to post a thread on SDN as a developer might answer below clients question.
Out Clients Question is:
Why SAP modified a file without changing the version number?
e.g.
org file in stalled with patch 4
SAPlpd.exe Version 6.29.0.1 Date: 26-02-2010 Size: 1 562 432
replaced by (from exe)
SAPlpd.exe Version 6.29.0.1 Date: 24-08-2011 Size: 1 598
560
We detected this during our repacking, and we did not asked for support
for this.
Version control and a ascending versioning is essential for every
developer and
I'm sure that we are not the only client/company with an automated
software
distribution."
Please let me know if you require any additional details in answering
our clients question..
Thank You & Regards,
Shyam Yanati
