when i checked sapinst_dev.log it contains an entry stating "The subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech' does not exist on the 'localhost' host"

Hi, I was facing several problems on my installation on Win08 Server in a VM myselfe.

Finally it was realy simple...

I turned off "integrtion feature" (mabe optional)

And my biggest mistake was in the "hosts" file

Do not use "10.10.0.10 netweaver" if you computer has another name

The correct way is: (as described in the insall guid "start.html" within the downloaded archives)

<Loopback IP>     <Computername>

hi there, i had the exact same issue, tried the following and SAP NW installed like a champ for me.

-> look for a folder called MAXDBTOOLS

-> install the DBM76 and SQLSTD76

-> repeat SAP NW install

this works because i believe whatever pre-requirement the NW install is looking for during the MaxDB install step is satisfied by one of the above programs & thus the NW install works like a champ.

i'd love to hear if the solution worked for you folks.

thanks a lot Shiva - got error message: "The database installer reported an error. DIAGNOSIS: Some database applications might still be running........." - only when I checked in the sapinst_dev.log did the real cause become clear which was - "

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech' does not exist on the 'localhost' host." - your suggestion worked for me. Thanks again

Hi I am having the same issue, following the installation instructions to the minute..

Clean Win 7 Professional install, no antivirus, no firewall, no other software. Up to date Windows.

Tried the suggested remedy, removed registry keys and installation traces, still no luck.

Any ideas? Doesn't look like a Win7 Professional install can be done reliably which is really a shame as that would be the ideal setup for .NET/SAP development

Can provide the support.sar file if needed.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello,

The subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech'

SAP DBTech' does not exist on the 'localhost' host.

'sapinst' is checking the

registry to find whether db is installed or not and it cannot

find the registry branch.

Start/Run... Type regedit and delete the followings

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech

Hello Sonal

Do you have any MAX DB running on this host?

Kindly stop the service and then restart the installation process.

Also check DMBS_TYPE variable set in environment.
