Hello Experts,
What is the difference between Sample determination and Sample management in Quality Management?
Please explain this with the simple example for better understanding.
Thanks in advance,
Anitha Pauline
Dear Anitha,
Sample management one of the function available in QM module which deals with Samples for Inspection lot.
you can consider Sample management at header level, and Sample determination will come under Sample management.
relation is same like "Quality Management and Quality planning". means, Quality planning comes under Quality Management.
Sample management consists of Physical samples, Sample drawing procedures, Sample determination-sampling procedure and Sampling schemes Etc.

Amol

Hi Amol,
According to your reply, I could get the difference of Sample management and sample determination.
Also it would be better if you could provide insight on following terms, which I come across in Sample management
Sample drawing procedures,
Physical sample
Physical sample record,
Physical-sample drawing
Sampling scheme
Thanks,
Anitha
Sample determination we define the following parameters,
Sampling types - Rules for determining the sampling instruction, The sampling type defines the basic conditions for determining the sample size for each inspection characteristic. A distinction is made between certain basic forms, such as:
100% inspection
Fixed sample
Percentage sample
Sample according to the sampling scheme
Adapt Rules for Sample Determination :To define or adapt the rules for determining samples, integrate the function module responsible for determining the sampling plan in your system. These rules form part of the function that supports the sampling type and are therefore dependent on the same parameters as this sampling type.
Sampling ProcedureA sampling procedure defines the rules that specify how the system calculates the sample size and it contains information about the valuation of an inspection characteristic during results recording (attributive, variable, manual, etc.).
Sampling procedures are usually used at characteristic level of a task list or material specification. You can however determine the sample size, without reference to task lists. To do this, you define a sampling procedure in the settings at plant level or for the inspection type in the material master.

Hi what exacting you want in Sample management. In sample management you can define the sampling procedure Tcode QDV1
For this you can define the following things
Smapling Type (100% or Pecentage or sampling scheme or fixed )
For example if quality is 100 then the sample size will be calculated based on the type. 100% means sample size is 100, % sampling means you define the % (e.g. 10%) then system will calculate the sample as 10 nos. Fixed means like 10 nos or 15 nos independent of the total no of material received. For sampling scheme you need to define a sampling scheme tcode QDP1 and assign it to sampling procedure.
Valuation mode based on which system will suggest if the results are accepted and rejected
The sampling procedure has to be attached to the quality plan (QP01)
