IPC - Shared Pool Memory parameters - setting problem

Former Member

Dear friends,

I am trying to delete some parameters that are not needed:

ipc/shm_psize_14 0

ipc/shm_psize_18 0

ipc/shm_psize_19 0

ipc/shm_psize_30 -10

ipc/shm_psize_41 0

ipc/shm_psize_51 -10

ipc/shm_psize_52 -1

ipc/shm_psize_54 -10

but I cannot do it, as SAP automatically adds them again after profile activation, with the same value.

Any ideas, why is that happening ?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel.

Hello Daniel these are SAP buffer parameters which SAP suggests for the first time when you activate your profile.

You can know about these parameters in below link

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c4/3a6f4e505211d189550000e829fbbd/content.htm

I dont know why you want to delete it, but if you still want to delete it then you can directly open the profile file and delete it, after that restart the system.

Hello Amit,

I need to delete them as these are some proposals from customer.

I am trying to delete them from the profile, but after restart they are coming back with the same value

I am deleting them from the default.pfl file, at OS level

Any workaround for this ?

Thank you for your reply

Hi Daniel,

After deleting the parameters from the OS level in DEFAULT.PFL, go to RZ10 and click on UTILITIES --> Import profiles --> Active Server.

I am sure, you dont see your older parameters with old values again.

Hello Daniel,

Please check if these parameters are maintained in other profiles like Instance and Start.

Note: These are SAP buffer shared memory pools. Not recommended to delete. Why you have to delete them?

Thanks,

Siva Kumar

Thank you all,

Indeed, there params are deleted and than set again by SAP system at the activation proflle which is normal.

Eveyrone agreed that this is a bad idea to delete them, so we all decided not to.

Have a good evening!

Hello Daniel

This issue is not PI specific. Only PI specific issues should be in the PI forum. As a result we will move this to the [SAP Netweaver AS, General|; forum.
