NT Server Requirements for BW BEx Precalculation Server

Can anyone provide an ideal server profile for an NT server where the BW BEx precalculation server will be installed? Everything I see just says "minimal" but I need specific processor, disk, memory specs to take to my Basis team.

    Hi Jeff,

On page 42 of the SAP BW 3.5 SR1 Installtion Guide under 'Hardware requirements' it says: 'Your System should fulfill all requirements for Microsoft Excel...'. For Excel 2003, for exampple, Microsoft lists the requirements here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/office/excel/prodinfo/sysreq.mspx

As you can see, the specs are indeed minimal. So, if basis has a a server that meets those specs you can use it as your precalculaiton server. I hope that answers your question.

    Regards,

    Oliver

    Oliver,

The documentation states that Precalc Service should be installed on a PC with Windows 2000, XP, or higher.

It appears from this topic that Precalc service can be installed on a server with a server OS such as Windows 2000 Server, NT Server, or Advanced Server. Could you please confirm this. Do you know of any clients who have done this? Your response will be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tim.
