How to update the Excel model so that Crystal Dashboards can be Dynamic.

Good Afternoon all,

Long winded question, I know, and I appologize. I am incredibly new in the IT realm, even more so with this software.

My management team has come down with a task for me to research how to make the Dashboard model be dynamic in regards to new data input form a data server. The scenario goes like this:

Data is stored on a database server, and Xcelsius (Crystal Dashboard) is stored on a web server.

A user's report comes out with an interactive spreadsheet table, complete with all of its links to other objects to run their simulations. Say it has 10 items. Overnight, 5 new items are added to the Excel model.

What I am looking to try and do is that when the user accesses this model again the next day, and runs their simulations, those extra pieces of data are in the model, and able to be interacted with, without outside propt from that user.

I think I am on the right path in looking at XML connectivity, but I am honestly not sure if this is simply a settings issue in Xcelsius, or in Excel, or both.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Matt
