how to create a layout for the background processing when the report doesn't have it as selection option in sap?

Did you manage to resolve your issue.
I am facing the exact same issue in ME2L Report. No layout option in selection screen and when i run the report in background it only picks the standard layout.
Can you please help
I think for ME2L, you can set the needed data like vendor range and purchase organization range and then click GOTO->VARIANTS->SAVE VARIANTS.
