MII Vs BI/BW

Hi,

I am BI/ABAP consultant and new to MII.

My client is looking for use of MII for their business, they have asked me to explore the MII and check if the same functionality can be achieve by BI-BOBJ or XI.

While going through documents on MII, I have found that MII have the same architecture like BW

the data source layer; (Same as BW)

the application layer consisting of connectors, transformation objects, and agents; (In BW we have Xmation/APD/Etc)

and the user layer consisting of display components such as applets and reports or dynamically-generated XML content.(In BI we have BEx, BOBJ).

then why do we need MII.

We can directly use Data services and BW to create dashboard using BOBJ/BEx tool.

    Hi,

    you can use some of the BusinessObjects BI tools on top of MII and I wouldn't compare MII necessary with BW - in fact MII works for headquarters in combination with MII.

    but also MII allows to combine data / collet data.

    I would suggest you look for the Manufacturing / MII forum where people probably have more knowledge around this.
