Beginner question for : Markus Ganser ,Klaus David and Others

Hi Guys,

I'm a beginner in MDM so have the following questions :

1) Why is EP mandatory for MDM ? What is EP's role ?

2) How to pass data to MDM server from EP ? (believe thru XI but how ?)
