Hi,

I have the following questions on EDI Seeburger.

1.BIC Mapping Designer:As per my understanding, the BIC Mapping Designer is used if any existing Generator mapping provided by Seeburger is not as per the requirement. If we need to edit the existing Generator Mapping then we use BIC Mapping Desinger, right? But if we need edit the existing Generator Mapping,do we see both source and target structure, right? But if we are suppoded to create the mapping from scratch then where to get both the structures from?

2.I searched a lot about the configuration details of the Seeburger adapters like AS2 and SFTP but could not find anything good, can you please provide me the same? Also, where and how to use AS2 and SFTP?What is VAN?Is it an alternative to AS2 or SFTP?

3.What are certificates in Seeburger?Which adapters are they relevant to?

Thanks,

Gayatri

Yes.

>>But if we need edit the existing Generator Mapping,do we see both source and target structure, right?

No. These mappings are only EDI to EDI xml and vice versa. They are generated out of 1 structure.

>>But if we are suppoded to create the mapping from scratch then where to get both the structures from?

Read BIC MD guide provided by Seeburger or related articles on SCN to know the procedure for creating mappings.

>> could not find anything good, can you please provide me the same?

I created one small document for AS2, go through that

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=221354005

>>Also, where and how to use AS2 and SFTP?

Wherever the protocol supported by partner is AS2 or SFTP.

>>What is VAN?Is it an alternative to AS2 or SFTP?

Use Google.

>>What are certificates in Seeburger?Which adapters are they relevant to?

Certificates are nothing specific to Seeburger. Search SCN for certificate related details with respect to PI. They are relevant to all adapters.

Hi Priyanka and Prateek,

Thanks for the valueable replies.

Can I get some weblogs about certificates and SFTP and AS2 configuration?

Also,

These mappings are only EDI to EDI xml and vice versa. They are generated out of 1 structure.

Means,if there is any already standard existing mapping in Seeburger and we need to modify, then can we add new fields in it?

The standard existing mapping in Seeburger is between only EDI and EDI XML,that is between EDI and its XML format, right?

Also,if the mapping that is Standard Seeburger Mapping is already existing, then we need not create .sda files, right?

If so,then where do we get thoase/sda files from?

Thanks,

Gayatri

Hi,

about SFTP

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10b17369-9522-2c10-84a6-d75d8a8a...

About AS2 configuration.

Seeburger provides very few E2X and X2E mappings, if you are using other versions then we have to create those mappings by using BIC tool.

Yes

Standard mappings we can get in BIC tool, for this we need to create ".SDA" files then deploy in PI server.

For configuration

Hi,

>>Means,if there is any already standard existing mapping in Seeburger and we need to modify, then can we add new fields in it?

Yes we will modify the std mapping as per our requirement by importing it in mapping designer.

>>The standard existing mapping in Seeburger is between only EDI and EDI XML,that is between EDI and its XML format, right?

Yes, its btw EDI_to_EDI-XML

>>Also,if the mapping that is Standard Seeburger Mapping is already existing, then we need not create .sda files, right?

If so,then where do we get thoase/sda files from?

No need to create the standard mappings its available as the part of installation itself.

>> Can I get some weblogs about certificates and SFTP and AS2 configuration?

do a search

Hi Venkata and Yugapreetha,

Thanks for the valueable replies.

I have a few questions

1.Even though we are using the standard existing Seeburger mapping,we need to create the .sda files?

If so what are the steps for that?

Are the steps similar to the scenerio where we need to edit the standard existing seeburgeer mapping and create the .sda files?

2.What exactly is the use of certificates and where are these certificates used?In adapters? If so which one AS2 and SFTP?

Thanks,

Gayatri

Yes, the steps are same as u metioned and My question is why do u want to create .sda file for std mappings.

Hi Yugapreetha,

Thanks for the reply.

I am confused.

As per my understanding,we need not create .sda files for standard mappings and they are already available, right?

If so,where can we get them from?

Thanks,

Gayatri

If it is a new installation, you need to generate SDA file from the BIC MD even for the standard mappings and deploy it on PI server.

Hi,

When you purchase the third party adapter from seeburger you'll get configuration guide which will giv you the clear idea of cofiguring.

>>where and how to use AS2 and SFTP?What is VAN?Is it an alternative to AS2 or SFTP

The AS2 protocol is internally based on HTTP.AS2 uses two different message types: the actual payload message and the Message Disposition Notification (MDN). The payload message encapsulates an EDI file so that it can be transmitted via HTTP. The purpose of the MDN is to acknowledge the receipt of a payload message.
