Master data entry even after 0ORGUNIT is closed

We noticed something quite disturbing.

In the master data of 0ORGUNIT we see records going till 31.12.9999 even if an orgunit is closed in R/3.

The extractor on the R/3 side only sends records up to the end date but in BW we see the last entry going to 31.12.9999. If that record would be empty there would be no issue but apparently a number of characteristics remain assigned.

Since we are trying to base our authorizations on the orgunit data we need to see which ORGUNITS are sill valid or not. The only way we have today is to look in the Hierarchy.

I'm wondering actually if it is normal to have these 31.12.9999 records for ORGUNITs that are no longer actif?
