Qualification vs Education and Experience.

Hi experts,

What according to SAP is a Qualification (Q). How is it different from the Educational Qualification infotype and Experience infotype.

I sense that any skill or knowledge, which is gained by an employee (P) or applicant after attending a training event or course (E), which can be transferred through follow-up in TEM/LSO.

Before implementing, how to present/conceptualise to the core team members, what is a Qualification?

Is a qualification anything apart from a recognised degree/certificate from a formal educational body?

If it is being provided by an external trainer (not by the client), say an institution, how can the candidates be rated on that qualification? Should the client just request the institution, say on a scale of 1-10 and go ahead for a Profile Matchup?

Earliest response appreciated.

Regards,

Veera Sasidhar Jangam

HI,

Qualifications are the Requirements for the position. Education is an academic qualification.

for example for one to become an HR manager in an organisation where SAP is implemented the requirements/ qualifications can be given as

a) Should have MBA in HR from a premier institute

b) Should have 10years of administrative Experience

c) Should be well versed with SAP implementation

d) Should have good communication skills etc.

The education qualifications can be

MBA from XYZ college

Graduation from XYZ college

Intermediate from XYZ college Etc

Based on the inputs given by the applicant on the resume the profile of the candidate can be matched with that of the requirements in the process of shortlisting the applicants from the applicant pool.

Thanks Raman and Rafi.

The same Qualification, say, SAP knowledge may be rated in different ways, on different scales, by different bodies. Say, the applicant may rate himself on 4/5, the previous organization may rate 6/10. How can the present organization rate the applicant.

Is it just by interviewing the candidate and arriving at a conclusion? I had hard time in conceptualising a Qualification in my previous implementations. The client would insist to differentiate between Education and Qualification. Further they would say that an employe may have a certificate from an institute that he is excellent on IT skills. But that cannot be considered.

I just need some more light on this.

Veera.

Hello,

I would say rating is purely depends on client to client.

It depends on their standards of rating. but the process is it is left to candidate to rate first and then the manager to evaluate.

Hi

Every applicant would rate oneself as the best. It is for the interviewer to rate the applicant and the rating has to be given by the interviewer. Let me compare this with the annual appraisal where the employee rates oneself as 4/5 but the supervisor may rate him 3/5. I strongly feel that such rating is purely contextual rather being general.
