Hi Anil,

It is not necessary that every development environment has a sandbox. Most of them however, do have it.

The dictionary meaning for the word sandbox says <i>"a hole in the ground, or a box, filled with sand in which children can play"</i>. The actual meaning in the SAP context is not far from this. The sandbox is basically a place where the developers can do all sorts of experimenting when trying to learn something. They can usually do whatever they want, withot really having to complain "Oh! I do not have authorization to that transaction" and so on...

You might say that this can as well be done in the development system, but then there are some serious users out there who are trying to do develop something. And wouldn't it be annoying for them to find that some else had just done some testing and the data in all the tables is gone ? Or that someone is trying to learn the authorization concept and they accidentally have removed the access to SE38 for all the users in the system ?

There can be other examples of such <i>disasters</i>, but I hope the point is clear. If not, get back, Otherwise close the thread.

Regards,

Anand Mandalika.
