confirm ctrl key comes automatically even though not maintained in PIR & vendor master

Hi SAP experts,

I have created a po having 3 line items with ref. to a contract .

Here I found confirmation control key is populated automatically for the 2nd item. But it did not happen automatically for both 1st & 3rd item.

* I have checked & found that Confirmation control key is not maintained in both info record for 3 items & vendor master record.

So my question is how confirmation control key populates automatically in case of 2nd line item.

I would also suggest to check for OSS notes, e.g. 794195 - ME21N: wrong confirmation control key in PO explains again the design along with fixing a bug in certain releases, and 909885 - ME21N: Confirmation control key not from vendor has even fixes for system releases up to 617

information flows usually in a cascade from most generic to most specific, from vendor master to info record, from info record to contract, from contract to purchase order, from purchase order to purchase order.

At any point the user can overwrite the default from the reference. And a change in any of these records can happen after a PO was created.

If you created your PO just now, then it should be as outlined above, if your PO was created not now then check the change history of all objects to see this value was removed after the PO got created.

All of above can be irrelevant if you built your own logic in a user exit or BAdI and overwrite the standard.

If you can't find any trace of from the info above then use transaction ANST to find if you have exits/BAdIs in place which alter the logic.

a contract has precedence over an info record, so check your contract item and you should see that the control key is defaulted from there to your PO item.
