Unable to start LiveCache

hi,

I have restored /sapdb dir from backup. The data /log volumes are intact and no changes. When trying to start, x_server is starting. However, I am unable to connect to DB instance.

dbmcli -d LBS -u control,control - does not connect...

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks,

RajS

No error message. It just hangs for long. when contl-C twice, getting below message.

Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database LBS

It looks connecting to DB instance is an issue. I tried to install the last patch again.. it was giving error message as below:

./SDBUPD -d LBS -u control,pwd

beginning to check sap db instances

start new instance update

cannot establish database instance session:

cannot get information about instance LBS

may be paramfile, user profile container or

registration of instance corrupted

check this and restart installation

Not sure, if restore of /sapdb filesystem would need any other steps fully functional. Database is not changed..

note - prior to this restore of /sapdb, it was upgraded to 7.07.37

Thanks,

Raj

hi Natalia,

FS backup does not include data/log volumes as Link file is pointing to raw devices. Restore looks missing some of the files, resulting issues in connecting to DB instance. Off-line data backup is available, which could be used to restore the livecache, however could not connect to existing DB instance. When tried to create instance, it says already the instance is available and could not drop the DB instance as the result.

below are output for the commands executed:

Executed sdbverify and made corrupted package as invalid and reinstalled the 7.6.06.16 over existing files. x_sever is starting.. However, dbmcli is not connecting to DB instance. It hangs.. below shows cancelled using control-C and got below error message.

    • If I know the list files to be removed/ renamed/edited, sothat I could create the same instance.

When I try to start LiveCache from Database Manager, it process for long time and finally gives error as: "-4 socket receive error [10054]".

I checked Note 1321675 - Database error -10807 at OPC - My system is installed in Sun Solaris 10 and not sure, if this has any issues as in the note.

Not sure, if this means some client connection issue with database instance..

Thanks,

Hello,

Check and post the X_SERVER logfile that is located at /sapdb/data/wrk/xserver_<>.prt. Also take a look into the logs dbmsrv_<>.prt, knldiag.err and lcinit.log...These logs could help you to investigate your problem.

Also check the firewall permissions between your machine and server. Maybe you have no authorization to connect to the port 7210. This could be reason for the error 10054.

Check the file systems permissions too.

hi Leo,

x_server is getting started. There is No dbmsrv_.prt, knldiag.err and lcinit.log are created. Only x_server logs are available.

However, connecting to DB instance is an issue. When trying with DB Manager / DBMCLI to logon, it simply hangs.

Hello,

1. Did you create the SAP message, where this issue was reported?

2. Could you rename the Databases.ini file located in /sapdb/data/config to Databases.ini.old & then try to create the database instance.

Please update with output:

ls -l /sapdb/data

ls -l /sapdb/data/wrk

ls -l /sapdb/data/pid

ls -l /sapdb/data/fifo

xinstinfo LBS
