Process chain

Hi experts ,there are many BPC DM packages that run daily in the night .All are using same process chain . If DM package gets triggered at scheduled time while other package is running , package that is already running is getting canceled after some time The later one is getting completed with no issues .

Is it that because same process chain is used in all of the packages ? How process chain works ? Instance of process chain gets created for each DM package?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

How about the linking the packages in a package link. That way you can some what better control and do not have to create copies of process chains.

You can also have more than one package link if you can meaningfully group them and you can estimate the time that they take to run and accordily you can schedule the package links one after another.

Thanks,

Hi,

When one chain is in running state you can not trigger the same chain until its successfully finished or failed in between.

If you try to trigger a BW process chain while it is in running system will prompt you as follows:

"Last process chain run is still active

If you continue, this run will be terminated"

So when you trigger DM package inturn it triggers BW process chain in back end...so you can not trigger many DM packages on same time which created on same process chain.

Hope it helps...

Hi,

If you want to run all DM packages at a time then Yes! you should create those many process chains. You can create a package link if you want to start DM packages one after the other using same process chain.

Thanks,

Hi,

In your circumstance, you need to create 15 different process chains for each of the DM package. The effort is not much. You just need to copy the process chains with different names and create separate start process for each of the process chain.

Hope this helps.
