Pay Scale Type -- PA

Dear All

For Basic Pay Infotype 0008, could anyone guide me regarding the Pay Scale Type Concept?

Can I have my Pay Scale type as Manager, Employees etc. or is it that when it comes to identifying the Pay Scale Types, it should only be specific such as different Plants of a Company, or different locations etc.
