Changes to Material Revision Levels

HI,

As of now my current company is using ALPHA for Material revision level, and now even they are looking for Numberical Material revision for particular material type,

so my question is, is it possible to have both Alpha and Numberical verison controls with in one company code ?? if yes How ??
