Hi Chinta,

The call should be taken by the Business team.

if suppose there is a motor and for that the business wants to keep the bearing in the stores only then the Item Category should be"l"

and the rotor be kept in the local Department, to make sure the availability at any point and not wasting time for the searching, then the item category should be "N".

Hope it helps you further.

Hi Chandra,

You can choose the item category item cat. tab and you will be getting a list of types as c-compatable unit

D-document item I-pm structure element K-class item L-stock item M-phantom material N-non stock item R-variable size item T-text item.

And you asked how to choose among the catagories for that MM guys will help you or you can approach core team members. There is noneed to be confused.

Hi

Item category L- stands for stock items i.e. for these items you normally maintains stocks.

N- is Non stock item i.e. when you use it in BOM its for idication only. However when one creates order & assigns components of item category N, it trigers a PR for immediate procurement. So check with your business requirement.
