How to copy XI 3.1 UNV file into 4.0 UNV format

Hi,

we have an universe which is designed in XI 3.1 , so its in .unv format.

Now we are under SAP BI BO 4.0 SP2 Patch 6. we want to copy that .unv file into new version

As I know we can use Upgrade Management tool to do this but

1. we do not have XI 3.1 Instance so I can not go for Live to Live in UMT .

2. We do not have the XI 3.1 universe in BIAR file format, so I can not go for BIAR to live in UMT

So we are in such a position to find the best way to move XI 3.1 UNV file to 4.0 UNV format.

As we need that universe need to be in .UNV format only.

Hi,

you need to open the 3.1 Universe in the 4.0 Information Design Tool and you will be asked if you wouldlike to migrate it.

if you do not have running 3.1 instance - are you still able to open this universe in Xi3.1 Designer ?

if you do - then you can simply open this unv in Bi4.0 designer and publish it to repository.

if you can't - then the universe was saved with security and unless you have Xi3.1 with same cluster name as was used to create it - I don;t think you'll be able to open it...
