Purpose of the Check selection when creating CVCs in APO - DP

Dear SAP APO folks,

Its great to be a part of this forum, providing oppurtunity to share ideas and knowledge.

We have requirement to validate the MD used as a characterstic values while creating CVCs.

To meet it, i found the Check selection section but unable to explore the usability of the options available.

Hope to find some good inputs here.

The F1 help on these fields does a pretty good job of explaining the validation performed. If you select 'Check BW Master Data", system will validate that you had previously maintained characteristic values in BI master data (transaction RSDMD or RSA1).

What is your specific question ?

Thanks for the reply.

I too had the some presumption that the system will do the auto check when we try to create CVCs using this Tcode with the Checkbox ticked(Check SCM Master data & Check BW Master data).

Lets take the example where the validation is done against SCM Master data.

The moment i put the characterstic value(as 18 digits - declared internally). the system truncates the leading zeros( 9 zeros and takes the remaining 9 digit char value) and when i press enter, error message pops up "Characterstic value does not exist".

Also to ensure, this value does exist in the SCM Master data as a 9 digit number.

So how to enable this validation work in the system, please let me know your inputs.

Hi Rajat,

Please ensure that the conversion routine used for the Product number characteristic infoobject and the product in the SCM Master data are the same.

This is the problem with your conversion routine for the product number.

Please maintain the conversion routine for the product number characteristic infoobject as PRODU. (In RSD1, choose characteristic radio button. Enter the characteristic name of product. And click change. Enter the conversion routine as PRODU).
