Could you please tell me when the employee hiring date and did you run payroll for that employee fromthe date of joining because for example if emp joins 01.01.2011 and if you run payroll for 01.02.2011 skipping last month live payroll then you will get this error so check control record pa03 and run payroll based on current period.
Retro is effecting your master data , I think there is back dated master data chances for the past periods.
Do you want to avoid these changes then go to T-Code: PU03 and there u will find the field "EAR PER RA Date, In this field give this month start date and run the payroll and check RT , u will never get /551
If you are running the payroll for the employee from hire date it wont show /551 error while running payroll how ever go to pa30 and from menubar click on utlities and select payroll status and empty all the column which are filled with dates. and save the screen and run the payroll
