PAGFIL01 and ROLLFL01 in /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGSxx/data

To all Gurus,

We are running SAP ECC 6.0 on Oracle 11 in AIX.

The folder /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGSxx/data have lots of statxxand astatxx files in it.

These are 2-3 days old. There are ROLLFL01 and PAGFIL01 files which are pretty big in size (200mb and 500mb respectively).

Could you please clear some of my below doubts:

1. Use of ROLLFL01 and PAGFIL01

2. Use of stat and astat files

3. Can we delete the ROLLFL01 and PAGFIL01 files which have last changed date as back as 2009.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Kiran

The stat file is used to write the statistical data from the buffer generated by the workprocess for each dialog step performed and this data in the stat file is read by the transaction STAD when required or by ST03N for the last minute load. These files are to treated in the way mentioned in the above message.

The Roll file and page file are the files on the filesystem basically required to store roll and page information of users context during switch from one local memory area to another local memory area of workprocesses. You should not delete them in a running system . To change the file sizes reduce the value of the parameters rdisp/roll_MAXFS and rdisp/PG_MAXFS.

Hello Kiran. ROLLFL01 and PAGFIL01 this is are roll file and page file used by SAP instance (you can check it in st02 for example)

or in profile of system this parameters :

    rdisp/PG_MAXFS

    rdisp/PG_SHM

    rdisp/ROLL_SHM

    rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS

    You can't delete this files.

About statistic files try to read

Note 6833 - Deleting statistics file, size of statistics file

If you have problem with free space , generaly read :

Note 16513 - File system is full - what do I do?

    P.S.

Can we delete the ROLLFL01 and PAGFIL01 files which have last changed date as back as 2009

can you say ,are you have any other ROLLFL* and PAGFIL* files in this directory ? Your system number are 01 ?

    Regards.

    • Hi,

      To be little specific,

the value you see in file system are rdisp/PG_MAXFS - rdisp/PG_SHM and rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS - rdisp/ROLL_SHM.

This is how PAGE and ROLL area works - In ST02, you will see the "In MEM" and "OnDisk". When the "In MEM" (parameter _SHM) fully utilized, it'll proceed to use the page from filesystem (_MAXFS)

Hope you find this info needful.

      Cheers,
