Adding extension to configurable products

HI Experts,

We have configurable products which can be added to the shopping basket. These products can be configured and we get some products as its subitems in the shopping basket. These sub items need to have a custom field in the screen and the value given by the user needs to be given to backend. To achieve this, I implemented the extension mechanism.

Here I am facing few issues. The subitems which are in shopping basket through configuration are not added to any catalog view so that the subitems are not visible in catalog search. It also should not be ordered independently. Also the xcm setting is maintained to allow products which are in catalog only to be ordered. Now for example when i click on update button,

the parseItems method is called, here by standard item objects for products which are there in the catalog are made.

For example,

If i have total 3 products in shopping basket, 1 header and other 2 subitems(not present in catalog view)

Only 1 item object is created as out of 3 in shopping basket only one is present in catalog view.

As item object for others are not created , I am not able to add extensions to them. To resolve ths issue I created item objects for the other 2 in customerexitparser and added to the basket. This appraoch worked fine for B2B scenario.

In BOB scenario when i click on order button to move to payment screen, the FM CRM_ISA_BASKET_CHANGEITEMS is called twice. In the first call, all the 3 items are coming to the FM in BASKET_ ITEMS structure, but when the FM is called for the second time i have only one item in BASKET

In your customerexitparser(), how are you adding the subitems to the actual main item. What is the Number range you are maintaining? Are you maintaing any Main Item-Sub Item relation or not?

If the Main Item-Sub Item relations are not maintained properly, you will loose the subitems in the FM CRM_ISA_BASKET_CHANGEITEMS .

Moreover, were you able to create the Orders as you expected(1 header and 2 sub items) in your CRM system(CRMD_ORDER)??It's been a while that I worked on this standard b2b ..I will see if there is any other standard approach that could be followed.
