In SAP 8.8, I created a Goods Issue transaction with total vallue of $12,015. However, when I look into the Inventory G/L account, it shows journal entry of CR Inventory $5,594.52 and DR Shortages/Overages $5,594.52. Why the journal entry created by Goods Issue shows different amount? This really messed up the inventory balance. Is this a bug or I missed something?

You need to check your item setup.

Are you setting GL by Item or Item Group or Warehouse?

Have you allowed negative stock?

What is the negative inventory you use in your setup?

Also check what accounts you have specified for Goods Decreased.
