HI,

IF don't have BOM then you have to give material component manual in PO,But without giving component it is not possible,

BOM is not mandatory but component is mandatory

IF you have BOM your time will save to give component in PO

Hi,

The subcontracting items (SC items) in purchasing documents are represented with a special item category L. This means that for each SC item, one or several sub-items have to be entered for the components to be provided. If there is a bill of material (BOM) with the components for the material to be procured, then the components are copied from this BOM into the subcontract item. You can also enter the component(s) manually or add the components from the BOM. There is no config required!

A Subcontracting purchase order is the price of the vendor subcontracting work and the materials provided by the subcontractor. You can define conditions for subcontracting in a subcontracting purchasing info record.

You can also provide components without reference to an SC order by entering another transfer posting with movement type 541 and manually entering the requested materials, quantities, and subcontractor.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

As explained by experts above it is not possible leave component field blank while using item category L in PO but we would like to know what is the business requirement. Can you please let us know your business scenario which requires creation of subcon PO (w/o component) and can not be achieved via normal PO?

Thanks,

Yogesh

Hi

Sayan is right. It's not possible. Please, see SAP Note 205454 - Documentation on subcontracting and see also the attached document, it's so usuful. Take into account that SC is a process of procuring materials to your subcontractor that need certain components that you must delivery. These components are in your BOM or in alternative BOM.

I hope this helps you
