How to in Update process of SP's with Upgrade of Add on

Hi,

I'm updating the system to the latest ECC 6.0 STACK 20.

This includes various SP's and also, in my case, a update of PI_BASIS (version 2005 to 2006).

My question is, should I update the PI_BASIS in SAINT to the SP0 of 2006 version, and then continue the update of the other components (HR, BASIS, FI, EA-HR, ...) on the SPAM and also the update of the 2006 version to the latest SP?

Or is there another way?

Hi,

You should updated the components based on the dependency. Check dependency of PI_Basis component from transaction SPAM and based on the dependency upgrade those component first and then update PI_Basis.

In the case, no dependancy.

So you are saying to update in saint the add on, and then continue the work in spam with the rest of the SP's (of this component and other; HR; FI; APPL;etc)

Hi,

Patches you can update from SPAM but if there is release upgrade then you have to use SAINT to do that.

That I understand, my doubt is, as in the case there are no dependencies.

My question is:

Case A:

Do the SAINT for the upgrade of PI_BASIS for the SP level 0.

Then continue in SPAM for SP update for all the rest of the components (including available SPs for PI_Basis)

Case B:

Start by doing the spam for all SP's of components (HR, FI, APPL, Basis, etc)

Do the saint for PI_BASIS

run again spam for the SP's of PI_Basis

Wich case should I follow?

Or is there another one that is more correct?

Hi,

Please check dependency of PI_Basis 2006 SP i.e. what is component version required for other component in order to upgrade PI_Basis to 2006. If you meet that dependency then you can follow either approach.
