ITS iviews: Session Closing / Opening between ITS iViews

Hi,

I have created ITS iviews for a few SAP transactions.

I see that when I access an ITS iview, it shows a pop-up window that says creating session.

When I click on another ITS iview, the pop-up window shows closing session and opening another session.

This is very time consuming.

Is this a limitation of ITS, or can I configure this in EP so that the ITS session is re-used and not closed ?

Hi,

first, the reason why popups exist. For R/3 it is very important to close sessions (locks , but good session handling is a problem in web environment in general. That's why these popups exist. Otherwise R/3 sessions are closed after timeouts, as well as not finished transaction. ... and you might be in troubles.

There is a portal service DSM (distributed session management) which takes care of it. Nevetheless, popup windows will not loose There is something foggy with these ITS sessions, as some SAP guy answered me in ITS forum, that these popups do not work in fact in case of portal integration. (so why do they appear, ITS knows very WELL that it is being called from portal!)

There are also some limitations of DSM (same domain for portal and ITS), so be aware of it.
