BOM_change master

Hello team,

My requirement is i am making change master compulsory for the change mode of BOM because they need to use ECR with parameter effectivity later while its in production.

But during initial phase they may add or delete anything before using it in production. So now as the field is compulsory system will surely ask to enter change number every time when they go to change mode. But initially its not required for them how to handle this? I have below idea

Ask them to enter normal change master without release key and later enter with release key when required or any other best practice we have please?

Hi,

This issue is addressed by BOM usages. BOMs are created with engineering or prototype usage prior to the production stage. Then production BOMs are copied from engineering BOMS when all changes are complete. You can allow changing engineering BOMs without ECM. You have to maintain several BOM maintaining roles differentiated per BOM usage, and have ECM mandatory only for production BOMs.

Hello Ozgen/pushpals/others,

All the provided suggestions are 100% correct. This is the standard process across any companies.

But due to some reasons and discussions with client, client has decided to maintain 2 BOMs but both will be exactly same and one guy is doing changes in both the boms. I know this is not right process but customer wants this, and many other things like one guy will be doing changes in both the boms simultaneously.

To serve the purpose i need the below,

I need to give them an special ECM/change master. Only this specific style of ECM should allow a particular dept. to do normal changes via cs02. Is this possible?
