Hi Experts,

This is Ram, Please clarify my scenario which i faced.

1. I want to get few of selective requests from my PSA to Cube? there is no DSO in between? how can we do that?

2.What are the settings in BI side for report authoriations

3.what are the tools in market to monitor the query performance?

4.Conditions, exceptions, restricted key figures, and calculated key figures will increase or decrease the query performance?

Thanks in Advance

    1. I want to get few of selective requests from my PSA to Cube? there is no DSO in between? how can we do that?

Ans. Right Click on Datasource > Manage> Under Request Status --> Make red status of those request which data you don't want to upload.

2.What are the settings in BI side for report authorizations

    Ans. Using PFCG

3.what are the tools in market to monitor the query performance?

Ans. Using RSRT you can monitor the performance of query.

Also if you installed BI Static Cubes in BW system there are several queries on top of thease cube which will give you information of Query performance

4.Conditions, exceptions, restricted key figures, and calculated key figures will increase or decrease the query performance?

Ans. It will little but decrease the query performance.

      Hi Boss,

Your answer to my first question is ok when we load the data through datasource to target. But my question is the requests already in PSA. Let us consider 10 requests in PSA a part from all i want only req 6 and req7 (2 records) into my cube.

      Please let me know.

      Thanks in advance

    Hi,

    1. I want to get few of selective requests from my PSA to Cube? there is no DSO in between? how can we do that?

If it is 3.x flow you can manually select the request in PSA then update to Datatarget,

If 7.x flow then we cont update based on request,we can do onlyfull update with data selection

2.What are the settings in BI side for report authorizations

For Accessing the report you need to Assign the roles which contains Query names and infoproviders

3.what are the tools in market to monitor the query performance?

    RSRT

4.Conditions, exceptions, restricted key figures, and calculated key figures will increase or decrease the query performance?

RKF and CKF would some what de grade the Query performance coz calculation need to happen at run time

    Hi Ram,

Follwoing are the answers to your question serially :-

    ANS1 :-

Select the request which you want to load to the DSO. Right click on that particular request and click on "Update With Scheduler". If that particular request is already updated in the cube then you will need to first delete that request from the cube only after that you will be able to load this request again.

    ANS2 :-

Report authorization can be provided through PFCG as well as Analysis Authorization. You can get authorization relevant infor mations from following link

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/28336078/Analysis-Authorizations

    ANS3 :-

You can monitor it through RSRT transaction. However the best way is by installing BI ADMIN COCKPIT (technical contents). Once its installed you can get the performance through BI STATISTICS QUERY.

    ANS4:-

Yes these reduce the performance of the query hence we should use them only if there is no other way around

    Hi,

    1. I want to get few of selective requests from my PSA to Cube? there is no DSO in between? how can we do that?

You can do the request based delta load and then delete the unwanted request from Infocube.

2.What are the settings in BI side for report authoriations

You will have to create roles and authorization objects and then do the role assignment to specific users.

3.what are the tools in market to monitor the query performance?

You can monitor the query performance using BI administration cockpit or you can use RSRT for manually executing the query and check the database statistics.

4.Conditions, exceptions, restricted key figures, and calculated key figures will increase or decrease the query performance?

Query performance will be decreased as all these calculations will happen in run time than the plane query execution. But this doesn't mean that you should not use RKF's or CKF's only you will have to balance the no. of key figures you use in query for better performance.

    Durgesh.

    hi

    2.

a)Create a query on Infoprovider where infoObject xxx is added for which we have created Authorization object.

b)Create Authorization Variable in Query Designer

Create an Authorization Variable - Variable with Processing by Authorization in Query Designer for xxx, which is used in Authorization object.

    check this

    3.

The SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator is a new approach for boosting SAP NetWeaver BW performance based on SAP's search and classification engine, and on specially configured hardware. SAP NetWeaver BW customers adopting the SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator can expect radical improvements in query performance through sophisticated in-memory data compression and horizontal and vertical data partitioning, with near zero administrative overhead.

    4.

    a) When using restricted key figures, filters or selections, try to avoid the Exclusion option if possible. Only characteristics in the inclusion can use database indexes. Characteristics in the exclusion cannot use indexes. will improve query performance.

    b) If possible define calculated and restricted keyfigures at the infoprovider level instead of locally in the query. will improve query performance

scenario letu2019s take the sales in the month of November 2009 were 200 and the target for the month of November 2010 based on last yearu2019s sales will be around 220. In the sales report of November 2010 the user wants the sales values anything less than 200 to be shown as RED.

Depending on the market trend the target will be set for that particular month and based on that user want the Conditions and Exceptions to work in the sales report. This value may change depending on the sales of last year and the Condition and Exception values will be given by the user as desired.
