Trouble linking main report to subreport

I have created a subreport. In the "Subreport Links" window, I've selected the field in my main report that I want to link to. After checking the box, "Select data in subreport based on field", I observe that the field from the subreport I wanted to link to is omitted from the list.

Why would this be the case?

Thank you

    Hi

It is because your main report field data type is not same with your sub report field data type. Crystal will allow you to link same data type field in sub report linking.

    Thanks,

    Sastry,

Thank you, this was the problem. I had forgotten that my field in the main report, despite containing mostly numerical values, was actually a varchar/string.
