Hi,

Yes, you can in BI 4.0 , Information Design Tool (IDT)

From here, you can create a MultiSource Universe (MSU), which can combine various relational connections into a single data foundations and single business layer (.UNX universe)

H

p.s. a query filter does filter the dataset at the source; whereas a report filter simply hides rows in the presentation layer.

Dear Banks,

I have alreadydeveloped a SQL relational universe and developing reports with up to 6 tables and 15 filters ,

In addition to that client wants me to connect their 3 oracle relational tables.

could you please advise me the best practice to deliver this without minimal issues.

thanks

Hi,

Create synonyms for those tables at schema which you have used for your universe; then import those tables in your universe, link them with existing structure or create a derived table or create a view in database and import in universe. Then use your universe for reporting.

Hi

If you want to have a universe pointing at diferent databases, then you can't do it.

One Universe = one database.

And Query Filter used to restrict(filter) data coming from database . In report level the values are not restricted it shows all the values .hence performance degradation occurs .

so finally query filter is best .

Hope this helps

Hi ..

you can connect one database for one universe.. can't connect multi database to one universe... But you can create the reports using multi universe for one report.

Query level filter is recommended for report instead of report level filter.

Thanks
