SAP HANA LOG backup issue in SPS03

Hi,

We are running our HANA system at SPS03 level and so there exists an option for log-backup from this level.

But we are facing problem in triggering/monitoring the same.

*The config files settings pertaining to log-backup is already made as per backup and recovery guides and relative notes but still i could not see the generation of log backup files at a path mentioned in config settings. And also a system reboot is also taken after changing the settings of config files.*

So we need information about how and where to look for the fix to this issue. Is there any other steps which needs to be performed apart from config file settings from the studio. And also where at OS level we can monitor the log backup.

Thanks,

Pavan

    Hello,

please ensure that your configuration is consistent with following SAP note:

Note 1645183 - Changing log mode for SAP HANA DB after SPS2 to SPS3 upgrade

    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1645183

Note: Restart of HANA is required for some changes to be effective.

Please check content of backup log:

Go to Administration Console (right click on HANA database SID and choose Administration), then switch to Diagnosis Files and then check content of backup.log (all log backups should be listed here).

      Hi Tomas,

The startup log has got overwritten and now i could see no errors in that(since system could start successfully after recovey).

Well this is getting more interesting. I shall monitor the system carefully for couple of days and look for smooth backup process.

If everything is fine then no issues, if system behaves abnormally then i shall maintain only Default values and check.

Once again thanks a lot for the fix.

      Thanks & Regards,
