Timing of Material Ledger Periodic Closing Run

Hi,

I am a bit confused about the right timing to run the material ledger periodic closing entries. If my current MM period is November, do i have to run the period closing at the end of November period just before i close the November MM period or i have to run it after i close the November period?

Hi,

The period-end closing in Material Ledger can only be done for the previous period. Thus, you need to close the November period before you can do the period-end closing in txn CKMLCP.

Okay thanks, what sort of error message will i get if i run it for the November period without closing it?

You'll get error message C+715 ('You are not allowed to execute closing entries'). The post closing cannot be executed in this case.

It does not make sense to post closing entries for the current period, because after the closing entries are posted, no further material postings are possible. If this was allowed for the current period, the whole system would be blocked.
