DTP steps long running.

Hi All,

In one of our process chain we have two DTP steps with dynamic self clean up.The dtp steps are taking very long running to extract the data.Usually the DTP steps takes maximum of 2 hours of time to complete the extraction .But as of now it is taking 6 to 9 hours of time to complete the extraction. As of now the DTP step is taking long running at first data packet at start of selection taking long running and all of a sudden after 9hours the records are updating. As per our analysis regarding to data we observe that previously it have updated nearly 7 to 8 digits of data. But as of now we are getting the 9 digits of data. Can any body help us to solve the performance issue regarding this.

Thanks,

Vinodh.

    Hi Vinodh,

In our project during archival of data we also faced the same issue. We were actually archiving the data for each individual year and it was getting transferred from active cube to archieve cube.

In this process all the years has almost same no. of records and on an avg. each load was running for approx. 2 hrs but some of the specific year load was taking 5 to 7 hrs. and the strange thing was the extraction starts after 5 hrs and then gets completed in next 2 hrs.

We consulted with our basis and DB team but there were also clueless. But in our case it was one time activity so we didn't analyze it much. But for you if this is happening with daily load then I think it's better if you check with SAP.

    Regards,

    Durgesh.

    Hi ,

There are few things which you should check first :-

    1. Total number of requests in the cube (it should not be more than 5000 as per SAP recommendation).

    2. Whether your cube is partitioned or not.

    3. You can take help from following document for other performance optimization points :-

      hi vinodh,

i cannot tell you exact reason but can give some clue.

1.check whether there are any abap routiens.(i undesrstand that this application is running within 2 hrs previously but still check)

2.in RSMO of this stage,in details tab, when we expand each node,it give you the time take at each step.

check where exactly it is taking either at extraction level or transformation level.

so that we can do some more analysis.

    HI

    CHECK THE BELOW OPTIONS:

CHECK THE PARALLEL PROCESSES MAKE TO MORE IN DTP.

    OR

CHECK WITH BASIS TEAM, INSTANCE SIZE.

    OR

    CHECK WITH SAP.
