WEBI vs DESKI

Would you please be able to compare DESKI and WEBI. What are main advantages of WEBI compared to DESKI? What are disadvantages of DESKI? What users think that this application is missing? Thanks in advance.

HI,

It is not reasonable to compare the Deski and Webi, as both have different architecture.

But for the usability point of view BO4.0 Webi is good and near to Deski in terms of features.

And after BO 4.0, only Webi will be available for Ad-hoc reporting.

Hi,

In Webi, you can export to a CSV file.

Slice & Dice functionality is there in Webi

Deski Reports: These are standard .rep files created from the full client (Desktop Intelligence) and these reports can be built using all the tools/options available in BO.

These deski reports can be viewed in the Infoview/Web Intelligence but cannot be modified.

Webi Reports:These are .wid files created using the WEBI XI, and these reports can use limited tools/options available in BO(ref. comparison document on the BO website for complete difference on Webi and Deski reports).These reports can be built and viewed and modified/created using Infoview/Web Intelligence.

In webi U can not create formulas on the sections to hide the sections based on the formula.

Alerters are more advanced in webi than in deski, this is the plus point in webi. U can create sub alerters in webi.

U can create global filters and filters with formulas in deski. I don't tthink u can do this in webi.

U can not move the section lines in deski, u can do this in webi. this is a plus point in webi.

with deski u can point to the universe which is saved in your local or to the published copy. I do not think this is possible with WeBI.

When u create a formula in deski it lists the created formulas in the data tab of the report, webi does not list it, It only lists the vriables.
