Hello,
We can navigate to detail reports in SPM. Unlike the initial report(based on SPM final query) there is no "Modify" option available for detail query. Is it possible to add new dimensions by drag-drop into detail report like how we can build a new query?
Is this functionality missing or is there some customizing to activate this?
Best regards,
Prasanna
Hi Prasanna:
If you have userid with content-creator role, you can create a detail report with required dimension/measure and then using a user-id without the "content creator" role you can change the assignment in the Admin -> Analysis admin -> Measure Properties and assign newly created detail report to a measure.
Thanks

Hi Prasanna,
The short answer is - "no". This isnt supported. Detail reports are restricted to a certain set of values that are defined when the report was created. You will also note that you cannot execute a detail report directly, you can only open it in "design mode". I think the reasoning behind this is that detail reporting is line level of DSOs and therefore it is 1) slow and 2) very easy to get to a situation where you're returning a very large number of lines.
In the UI, go to administration > analysis administration > application properties > Data Sources tab. Here you can see the "type" next to each data source (bex query) e,g, "standard". By clicking on the a data source you can define it as either a standard or a detail data source. It is that selection that defines whether ad-hoc reporting is enabled or not.
As a work around, you can create a copy of the detail query - or create a new one, register it in the UI as a "standard" data source, and then create reports on it that way. You can still jump to it as a detail report, but it does behave slightly differently.
Alternatively, and probably as a better solution, you can create more detail reports that have the dimension combinations you require and link them to the measures that make the most sense.
Hope that helps.
Thanks
Neil
