Planning calendar in MRP settings

Hello,

I am trying to run MRP using planning calendar settings to create my PR.

I setup the MRP type R1 (which from what I gather is the one that should be used) and have the planning calendar set for "every Friday."

When I switch the lot size to PK (period lot size to plng calendar), i receive a error message (see below)

My questions are:

1. What are the best/normal MRP settings when trying to use planning calendar

2. Could someone please walk through each step in order

2. Is there configuration constriants which wont allow certain MRP types with lot sizes, or does that come standard?

The MRP type for time-phased materials planning is assigned to the material. However, with time-phased materials planning, only the following lot sizes are allowed:

lot-for-lot order quantity

fixed lot size

optimum lot size

Procedure

Please specify a valid MRP lot size.

Dear .

Create Planning Calender MD25 as your requirement

And in material master put MRP Type R1

and Use Lot size FX and Give some fix quantity .

Now put some PIR and run MRP.

Try and Revert back.

A>> Only u have to make planning calender by proper period stting

2. Is there configuration constriants which wont allow certain MRP types with lot sizes, or does that come standard?

Thanks for the replies... We already seem to have the planning calendars set up... I tried with R1 MRP type and FX, with planning calendar set for weekly on Fridays... the requirement came on the Friday. However, i then switched it to the weekly Thursday, reran MRP.... but the requirement still came back on Friday... I then tried the same with the weekly Wed, and still the same then... Is there any reason why this is? I cant seem to figure it out....

Hi,

As u have to create PR on every friday,

then it is required to work with following details

1.time phase planning/MRP

2.Planning calendor

3.Lot size procedure

****Create planning calendor with follow week days-every friday

****Lot size procedure-select period based lot size procedure such as weekly lot size-WB

Assign such seteing to raw material/Bought out components,

Run MRP & check results.

Hi,

GOTO--> SPRO> Production> Material Requirement Planning> Master Data--> Check MRP Types.

Create planning calender by MD25.

Assign the planning calender in mrp 2 view of material master.

Planning calendar's created are of 2 types,with calculation rule & without calculation rule.

After entering into T code MD25,enter for whicvh plant its been created and the Planning calendar name,press enter,If calculation rule

is to be changed, Goto Edit----->change calculation Role.

Hi,

The error message indicates the inconsistancy of using the MRP type 'R1' with conjunction with the lot size 'PK'.

In General for the MRP type 'R1' - time based planning - you need to use with conjuntion to the planning cycle.

You can create the planning cycle which is nothing but the planning calndar (MD25) for your plant - for Fridays.

Then you need to select the appropriate lot size: either 'EX' / 'FX'. This is a standard SAP config.
