It shows below error .

Hello,

Please, check if you are able to ping the MDM server from the machine you are trying to connect to MDM.

If not check for any firewall setting and port are open for connection or not.

Hello,

what is the SAP MDM version and Patch level you are using.

The WebService listens on two ports:

5<MDS Instance Number>13(http) and 5<MDS Instance Number>14 (https).

For instance if MDS was installed as instance number 0 the ports would be 50013 and 50014.

These ports must not be blocked by a firewall. If there are then please open the firewall for the ports.

Check the firewall setting for port blocked.

Abhishek

Hi Sateesh,

As mentioned in the SAP note follow the steps suggested.

Else you can do the same using CLIX commands.

Thanks,

Hello,

From MDM it is not possible,

You may ask your network administrator, he'll be the right person with tools to on how to check the ports.

Hi Satheesh,

SAP note 1403423 talks about the same issue and gives solution to this. Please find the solution below:

Summary

Symptom

When we try to start or stop the MDM Server or the MDM Import Server

using MDM Console, the following error message is displayed:

"Call to SAPWebServiceStartInstance failed with error: A connection

attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond

after a period of time, or established connection failed because

connected host has failed to respond".

Other terms

738523 2009

Reason and Prerequisites

You cannot stop the MDS instance from a remote machine, but need to directly log into the host where MDS is running and can start and stop it from there. This implies that the MDS instance can be started and stopped in general, but that there is an issue with the SAPStartSrv WebService interface that the MMC needs to talk to in order to start or stop the instance.

Solution

There a firewall in place that might block incoming traffic on the

MDS host.

The WebService listens on two ports: 5<MDS Instance Number>13(http) and 5<MDS Instance Number>14 (https). For instance if MDS was installed as instance number 0 the ports would be 50013 and 50014. These ports must not be blocked by a firewall. If there are then please open the firewall for the ports.

Thanks,

Ravi
