Query authorization

Hi All,

I've framed a query and saved it under MIS category through Query Manager.

I want this query to be run only by specific user.

I selected query Group One under Manage Categories and authorized the user on that group through General Authorization.

But that user is still able to see all the queries defined in the system.

Please help.

Thanking you

Malhaar

Dear malhaar,

Itu2019s very simple when you save your query in query manager and than click on Manage category & select query save in group 1 or group 2 and per user.

Than go to authorization and Report >Query generator and give authorization for group as per user.

Than Try

Dear Gordon and Mangesh,

I did exactly what you told me.

Framed a query.

Save it under a category.

went to manage categories.

selected the category under which query was saved.

selected the query group 1.

pressed update button.

Through general authorisation gave full authorization on that query group to a user.

logged in that user and checked

but that user got all the queries.

thanking you

The process to assign correct Query authorization can be found from my book. It is one half of a Chapter. You may read it and try.

Have you checked your other queries to see if they are also assigned to group 1? By default they are assigned to all I think

Hi Julie and Mangesh,

By default all query groups were assigned to all groups.

in the first place before creating a new query I re - assigned them to one single group and assigned a seperate group to a newly defined query.

But still the user is able to view everything.

thanks

It is available from Amazon. Search SAP Business One, it can be found easily.

Hi Malhaar,

What you need is to carefully design which user to which group then the users can only access the query to those groups assigned to them.

There are two aspects of the authorization process:

1. Group query by query Group for each category

2. Assign user to query Group that they can access

Thanks,

Gordon

hi,

goto Administration -->> System Initialization -->> Authorization -->> General Authorization, then select the specific user you want to give authorization. in the Authorization window goto -->> Reports -->> Query generator and select the groups here.

from here you can define the authorization as you desired.

Hi Malhaar.....

Have you properly given the authorization to that user for that particular Query Category?

That should be under Reports in General Authorization.....

Please recheck.....

Hi Rahul,

It is under Query Generator -

> Saved queries Group 1 to 20.

I set Saved Query Group 1 to full authorization and rest to no authorization.

Thanking you

If it is then that user should see all queries under same group and not under other groups.

Which PL and Version of SAP so you have?
