Need to reset admin password that has been lost

I have inherited a Nakisa 3.0 SP2 installation on Netweaver CE 7.2 that we do not know the admin password for. The default admin / admin does not work. The only known password for the installation is the Adminisrator account for Netweaver. Either I have missed how to do this in the Nakisa/SAP Talent PDFs and forum posts , or this has really never happened to anyone before!

Not having the password is quite a handicap when trying to administer Nakisa, so if anyone knows how to reset it to default or to a new value, it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Guy

Look in the root folder of your OrgChart installation for a file called AdminRegstr or something very similar.

Cut this file from the folder and reload the Admin Console.

If it is not present then admin/admin will default.

I'm doing this from memory so apologises if file name not 100% correct!

Stephen,

Top man! Worked a treat.

Under /usr/sap/<SID>/J00/j2ee/cluster/apps/Nakisa/OrgChart/servlet_jsp/OrgChart/root/.system/Admin_Config

there's a file called registersap.xml. Once I renamed that to registersap.xml.old as you suggested, I was able to log in as admin / admin.

Thank you again. Lifesaver.

Actually the file you quote is about registering the OrgChart application on the SAP with SLD.

Now I'm at my PC I can confirm the file I was referring to "AdminUsers.rgstr".

If you add an admin user for Administrator Console, the additional user/pass get written in the file AdminUsers.rgstr (This file can be decrypted using java decryptor). If you never bother to create additional admin users, or change the existing user's password. the file AdminUsers.rgstr does not get created.

If the file is not available/unreadable. admin/admin will always work.

If the file is available, the administrator console will use the user/pass encrypted in the file.

Hi Stephen,

I had the same issues, but my problem is I cant logon using admin/admin and the file is not available

I'am searching the whole path of directory but still couldnt found it.

/mnt/binaries/SAP/usr/sap/NKD/J30/j2ee/cluster/apps/Nakisa/Manager/servlet_jsp/Manager/root.

Is there any steps that I missed during installation ?

Cheers,

Raff

In this directory I would expect there to be a file "adminUsers.rgstr" if anyone has set the Admin Console login.

Can you confirm you are accessing the AdminConsole ...i.e. using URL:

http://server:port/Manager/manager.jsp

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for helping this.

Well that's the real problem, I don't know what is the other solution as I will ask to SAP about this.

The files not there, but admin/admin can't logon, as they keep throw me "invalid login".

So, I have found the solution by "uploading manually" the Serial file to the XML directory and Voila, I can logon with default password

I'm not sure what is the root cause of this, my first phase installation look smooth in all term of config parts.

Cheers,

Raff
