Setup Remotecube requirements

Hi,

I had a request to set up a remotecube on BW (connecting to a non-SAP R/3 external system using Teradata). All I have is very general on-line documentation as the following:

To report using a RemoteCube you have to carry out the following steps:

1.In BW, create a source system for the external system that you want to use.

2.Define the required InfoObjects.

3.Load the master data:

•Create a master data InfoSource for each characteristic

•Load texts and attributes

4.Define the RemoteCube

5.Define the queries based on the RemoteCube

In Step #1, external system is a non-SAP R/3 I'm not sure what requirements for RFC connection to define a source system?

I appreciate if anyone can share some info (better than the on-line doc) if you already successfully setup remotecube.

Thanks.

Lee

Look at the How To Guide "How To... Reporting from External Data via Virtual InfoProviders. You can easily download it here from SDN at

      Lee,

I have done exactly what you have described, "with a twist". Please let me know how I can help. Teradata offers an outstanding connectivity tool/solution designed exactly for this purpose. Teradata's solution works seamlessly with 3.1 and 3.5. However, if you are using a BW 3.5 system, I recommend you use UD Connect. You can contact Todd Hayes directly at Teradata for more info. or feel free to contact me.
