Hi All,
We have monthly bounce of the PI servers. We have found in the past that when this occurs the PI interface logs are deleted. The SAP Basis team has told us this is due to the fact the logs are stored in a BLOB, and not stored in a database as would take up too much storage.
Do you possibly know of a way to save PI Interface History without taking up lots of storage, or possibly way to select certain log items to store in database. We are just wanting to keep 30 days worth of history, but when do a bounce we loose everything.
Any idea or solution you might have on this would be greatly appreciated
Regards,
Ramesh
Hi Ramesh
I do not understand what you mean by "PI interface logs". Please be more specific. Are you referring to trace files or are you reffering to PI messages?

Hi Ramesh,
You can do archiving and followed by deletion of XML messages in PI server. Archival jobs might be scheduled to occur at periodic interval. You can specify retention period for messages in PI database to 30 days, thus messages become eligible for archival only after they spend 30 days of time in PI server. You cannot delete unprocessed messages unless they are canceled. Archived files may be stored in external hard drive and can be read as per requirement. It might not be always possible to reload the contents of the archived files back to tables but standard read programs are available under archival object to read them. Please follow the step by step procedure mentioned in this document
You can choose the interfaces whose XML messages in IE, you wanna delete or archive.

Hi Ramesh,
Once server restarts check out for background jobs running in it. I think during PI start up is an imporatnt event, it is triggering some background jobs whose task is to delete log files. BASIS team can check and list out all jobs running in background and reconfigure the settings. Simply restart of PI server should not delete log files.
If you do periodic archival or daily archival atleast you can get back old records, in case of accidental deletion.
